Pretty Woman (Happy 25th Anniversary)

Here is a review of Pretty Woman for a pretty woman. If I called her ugly my sleeping pills may be permanent sleeping pills if you know what mean. I m just kidding Nicole. I must admit my friend you have good taste in movies and co –workers I might add. Ok, down to the review. It was excellent. It contained a kicking soundtrack. It boasted an amazing cast and the story line was origin and refreshing. Two people who “screw people for living” discover that they can make love as well as fall in love. The cinema is filled with sex anyway so why not admit it. Hell why not make a full length movie about it. Oh what they did. It is called Pretty Woman I’m writing a review on it now. Once again the standout performance goes one of the smaller roles. The virtually unrecognizable Laura San Giacomo (Just Shoot Me) gives one of her most best performances to date and one of the few she’s had on the big screen. Who can not forget the unforgetable Julia Roberts? This is her first lead role and she is the titular character to boot. I mean really how cool is that. The other cast members rock as well. Jason Alexander plays pure, slime, Hector Elizondo is perfectly cast and even Amy Yesbeck makes an appearance. The come together for a great ensemble cast. This role got Julia 2nd Golden Globe win in two Years (Steel Magnolias) and gave her another Oscar Nod as well. She didn’t get Oscar gold till Erin Brockovitch. This is just a fun romantic role that can even be enjoyed by a 35 year old bachelor. I mean after all who would not want to go to bed with Julia Roberts. This in one case where you wouldn’t be Sleeping with the Enemy. Grade A+

A note from an editor!

Hi Matthew,

Thank you for the time and effort you put into this piece, especially on a Saturday morning. I can tell you definitely took good notes of everything that was going on during the event!

We still have some work to do before this piece is ready to print. Your piece has a lot of information, but it doesn’t sound like a news article. What was the point of his speech/presentation? Why was he addressing this audience? What is Vanguard? What does the company do – who does it serve? You spend a lot of time narrating (for example, how he was injured), but did not report on the purpose of the event. You can maybe mention his appearance/joking about it in a sentence or two, but do not take several paragraphs to do so. Also, I like how you mentioned where the name “Vanguard” comes from.

There are a lot of spelling errors in this piece – make sure you proof read each sentence carefully.

I know I am getting back to you a little later I hoped, and I’m sorry about that! But if you have time tonight, please go through my suggestions and try to rework your piece. You can send me what you have tonight/tomorrow morning. Please bring a copy of it to the meeting tomorrow and we will discuss it further from there.

Once again, thanks for your hard work and promptness! Remember this is a learning process, and we are all part of the Waltonian team!

Talk to you soon!
