Rocky Balboa

Rocky Balboa is prove positive that all good things should come to an end. I always thought it was appropriate that the original Rocky (a movie that takes place in Philadelphia.) won best Picture in 1976. They should have never a messed with such an original award wining formula. The original Rocky is inspirational. It proves that any joe off the street can go the distance with a true champion. The music is now famous. The running up of the Art Museum steps is now one of the most famous and repeated athletic feats done by both tourists and native Philadelphians alike. The closing credits of this movie has people doing that are both young and old. Many of them judging by their Brain Westbrook jerseys and other such Philadelphia sports parafanala are locals. (Including the best mascot in all of sports the Phillie Phanatic.) Thus being said they should have stopped at Rocky V. While I admit i have not seen the first three Rocky films in their entirety. The last two were pretty cool. This latest installment was both tired and old. while the original theme music is still an inspiration this movie was at best disappointing. Each of the five previous Rocky films had Rocky overcoming some insurmountable odd, each film had it’s own unique theme and charm to it. This film did not. This film was tired and contrite. It was as old and worn out as the Rocky character was conceived to be. It was not realistic and not even plausible. It was just plain bad. I didn’t hate it but I did not love it either the best grade I can give this should have been straight to video sequel is a C. Grade C

A note from an editor!

Hi Matthew,

Thank you for the time and effort you put into this piece, especially on a Saturday morning. I can tell you definitely took good notes of everything that was going on during the event!

We still have some work to do before this piece is ready to print. Your piece has a lot of information, but it doesn’t sound like a news article. What was the point of his speech/presentation? Why was he addressing this audience? What is Vanguard? What does the company do – who does it serve? You spend a lot of time narrating (for example, how he was injured), but did not report on the purpose of the event. You can maybe mention his appearance/joking about it in a sentence or two, but do not take several paragraphs to do so. Also, I like how you mentioned where the name “Vanguard” comes from.

There are a lot of spelling errors in this piece – make sure you proof read each sentence carefully.

I know I am getting back to you a little later I hoped, and I’m sorry about that! But if you have time tonight, please go through my suggestions and try to rework your piece. You can send me what you have tonight/tomorrow morning. Please bring a copy of it to the meeting tomorrow and we will discuss it further from there.

Once again, thanks for your hard work and promptness! Remember this is a learning process, and we are all part of the Waltonian team!

Talk to you soon!
