Clash of the Titans

This movie is about the good, (Perseus) the bad, (Caibous), and the ugly (Medusa).  It is an epic adventure for the ages. While it was made 29 years ago, (1981) it is still timeless in its story today. One mere mortal must over come insurmountable odds to restore peace in his time, and win the hand of the most beautiful woman in the kingdom.

It is a time of gods and goddesses, like Zeus, Hera, and Poseidon. It is a time of peril and seduction. It is a time of adventure. This is one movie that stuck with me through out my childhood and long into adulthood. I still remember it today and look forward to the 3D remake due out on April 2nd. (review forthcoming)

Ok let’s get down to brass taxes. What did I think of the movie today? I must admit I loved it. The nearly two hour film (1:58) flew bye like that and the story seemed new to me even though I remembered parts of it from the first time over twenty years ago. This film, is one I looked forward to seeing and even woke up early to view it.

The spotlight of the film goes to boobo. He is the little brass owl that takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin'. He is the best character in this film and he doesn’t mutter a line of English. He follows in the steps of R2D2 and kicks some behind.

This movie is a timeless classic. The remake may look better but I doubt it will withstand the test of time as this film did. I liked it as a kid and enjoyed it as an adult. That is a rarity for me now a days. Face it people I am getting old.

A note from an editor!

Hi Matthew,

Thank you for the time and effort you put into this piece, especially on a Saturday morning. I can tell you definitely took good notes of everything that was going on during the event!

We still have some work to do before this piece is ready to print. Your piece has a lot of information, but it doesn’t sound like a news article. What was the point of his speech/presentation? Why was he addressing this audience? What is Vanguard? What does the company do – who does it serve? You spend a lot of time narrating (for example, how he was injured), but did not report on the purpose of the event. You can maybe mention his appearance/joking about it in a sentence or two, but do not take several paragraphs to do so. Also, I like how you mentioned where the name “Vanguard” comes from.

There are a lot of spelling errors in this piece – make sure you proof read each sentence carefully.

I know I am getting back to you a little later I hoped, and I’m sorry about that! But if you have time tonight, please go through my suggestions and try to rework your piece. You can send me what you have tonight/tomorrow morning. Please bring a copy of it to the meeting tomorrow and we will discuss it further from there.

Once again, thanks for your hard work and promptness! Remember this is a learning process, and we are all part of the Waltonian team!

Talk to you soon!
