Journey to the Center of the Earth

This movie was short and sweet. A perfect movie on election day. This may just be the most important election in our nation’s  history.  So why not be distracted for 93 minutes by a pure adrenaline rush film that is simply a stupid as my father called them “Leave you brains at the box office.” movie. It is a magical special effects filled journey. To be brief  I’m happy.

It was a dumb, childish and completely fabricated tale. The 41 year old male lead (Brendon Fraser)  was too old and over the hill the young nubile, fertile, blonde haired  eye candy /arm decoration like leading lady at only 26. (Anita Briem)  I mean seriously can she truly be that good or experienced of a tour guide at that young age.

This is Hollywood  people so relax it can always happen in tinseltown. Her character’s name is Hannah how rare are palindromes. How rare are purely mindless dribble like movies that make me smile. Especially when I am to broke to think straight. This mindless adventure was one that won’t be scene by me again nor it should it be. Once is all I need. I like the opening style credits (at the end as usual) where the flare drops down across the words on the screen.  I liked the entire cast, I was impressed by the score, I was in awe of the cinematography as well.

This movie will not win any major awards (it won a teen choice award for a summer adventure. ) Nor should it. It is not worthy. While I admit it would of been better in a theater in 3D , I was impressed never the less. I’ll have to give it a default top grade for a pure mindless rush.

A note from an editor!

Hi Matthew,

Thank you for the time and effort you put into this piece, especially on a Saturday morning. I can tell you definitely took good notes of everything that was going on during the event!

We still have some work to do before this piece is ready to print. Your piece has a lot of information, but it doesn’t sound like a news article. What was the point of his speech/presentation? Why was he addressing this audience? What is Vanguard? What does the company do – who does it serve? You spend a lot of time narrating (for example, how he was injured), but did not report on the purpose of the event. You can maybe mention his appearance/joking about it in a sentence or two, but do not take several paragraphs to do so. Also, I like how you mentioned where the name “Vanguard” comes from.

There are a lot of spelling errors in this piece – make sure you proof read each sentence carefully.

I know I am getting back to you a little later I hoped, and I’m sorry about that! But if you have time tonight, please go through my suggestions and try to rework your piece. You can send me what you have tonight/tomorrow morning. Please bring a copy of it to the meeting tomorrow and we will discuss it further from there.

Once again, thanks for your hard work and promptness! Remember this is a learning process, and we are all part of the Waltonian team!

Talk to you soon!
