Beneath The Planet of the Apes

This movie came highly suggested by my “favorite” bartender. Bartenders are supposed to have their ear to the ground and know the latest sculttlelebut and rumors worth repeating. As a result I hurried to see this remake / sequel right away. Since sequels are usually “NOT AS GOOD” as the original and remakes are often lackluster as well I was intrigued. Well I am here to say there is an exception to every rule. The first film is his series was a disappointment to say the least. The ending of the first Planet of The Apes film is wait for it… Leg-EN -Dairy! One cannot expect a remake to match it’s original in value or should they compare the films to one another. If they do they are bound for disappointment. The first film in this remake series was awful despite ALL THAT. Mad props then to 20th Century Fox to continue the series then. My only complaint about this film comes in TWO parts. First, it is a tad too long. This two hour and ten minute film could have been about forty minutes shorter and been more enjoyable. Films over two hours in length often suffer in two areas. They allow for fewer showings and exceed the average’s person expansion attention span of 90 minutes. This film is still worth seeing however. As I have said many times before I have written over 1,000 movie reviews for fun or hobby and to give me something to do on mornings when I can’t sleep in, like today. IT IS 5:19 AM! (by the way) I once said my alarm clock does not have a 5:00 A.M. on it. Grade B

A note from an editor!

Hi Matthew,

Thank you for the time and effort you put into this piece, especially on a Saturday morning. I can tell you definitely took good notes of everything that was going on during the event!

We still have some work to do before this piece is ready to print. Your piece has a lot of information, but it doesn’t sound like a news article. What was the point of his speech/presentation? Why was he addressing this audience? What is Vanguard? What does the company do – who does it serve? You spend a lot of time narrating (for example, how he was injured), but did not report on the purpose of the event. You can maybe mention his appearance/joking about it in a sentence or two, but do not take several paragraphs to do so. Also, I like how you mentioned where the name “Vanguard” comes from.

There are a lot of spelling errors in this piece – make sure you proof read each sentence carefully.

I know I am getting back to you a little later I hoped, and I’m sorry about that! But if you have time tonight, please go through my suggestions and try to rework your piece. You can send me what you have tonight/tomorrow morning. Please bring a copy of it to the meeting tomorrow and we will discuss it further from there.

Once again, thanks for your hard work and promptness! Remember this is a learning process, and we are all part of the Waltonian team!

Talk to you soon!
