Prom Night (1980)

Early in her career Jamie Lee Curtis was known as the "scream queen" because she made so many horror movies. In reality this was the only horror movie she made with out the title Halloween. She in fact made it between filming Halloween (1978) and Halloween II (1981). She was known as recently as 1996 in Scream as the eternal virgin the innocent and pure witch is why she allegedly survived all the masked man massacres. Anyone who is a fan of her "body" of work knows she didn't revel her breast till Trading Places (1983). That being said this movie is for the boobs out there who liked unoriginal horror movies of that era. It is bland boring dull and contrived. The entire movie has been seen before such as in May of that same year in Friday the 13th. There were formed in two different countries (America and Canada) so who knows who had they idea first or even in they were in collaborations to make the same basic film twice. Notice I used the word film and not movie or flick like I do so in all my other reviews. This waste of t=time and money is nothing more than a film because it will leave a dull film over your eyes and make you wish your were being stalked by a homicidal masked killer. The sharpness of the killer's blade will be a sharp contrast to the dullness of this movie. This movie is so bad it kills. Mundane pointless and mind boggling boring this movie should be treated as raw sewage and that is exactly where it belongs in the sewers of life. Grade F

A note from an editor!

Hi Matthew,

Thank you for the time and effort you put into this piece, especially on a Saturday morning. I can tell you definitely took good notes of everything that was going on during the event!

We still have some work to do before this piece is ready to print. Your piece has a lot of information, but it doesn’t sound like a news article. What was the point of his speech/presentation? Why was he addressing this audience? What is Vanguard? What does the company do – who does it serve? You spend a lot of time narrating (for example, how he was injured), but did not report on the purpose of the event. You can maybe mention his appearance/joking about it in a sentence or two, but do not take several paragraphs to do so. Also, I like how you mentioned where the name “Vanguard” comes from.

There are a lot of spelling errors in this piece – make sure you proof read each sentence carefully.

I know I am getting back to you a little later I hoped, and I’m sorry about that! But if you have time tonight, please go through my suggestions and try to rework your piece. You can send me what you have tonight/tomorrow morning. Please bring a copy of it to the meeting tomorrow and we will discuss it further from there.

Once again, thanks for your hard work and promptness! Remember this is a learning process, and we are all part of the Waltonian team!

Talk to you soon!
