Iron Man

Grotesquely disappointing! This movie was all set up and no action. The origin scenes in the caves of Afghanistan were to drawn out and boring. There was too much Tony Stark and not enough Iron Man. After all the movie is called Iron Man. Comic book movies are supposed to be action packed this movie was not. Most comic book fans are guys. Guys are not as patient as women therefore we need a little more action. The cast was excellent though. Robert Downey Jr. was well cast as Tony Stark/Iron Man. Gwyneth Paltrow was alluring as his love interest Virginia ‘Pepper’ Pots. Jeff Bridges and Terrance Howard were good too. The acting was as good as the drawn out script allowed. It didn’t allow for much though. I will be wary in the future before seeing comic book movies. The last three I saw I was expecting more. Maybe my expectations are too high. Oh well back to the drawing board. (literally). Perhaps I should wait for word of mouth advertising before going to see a movie. But then again nah what fun would that be. Life after all is full of disappointments. Onward and upward I always say. Tomorrow I will be back in the same movie theater to see Made of Honor. Expect my review of that to be published soon. I always say you can’t win them all. I definitely felt defeated here. There is another two hours and six minutes. I could have spent cleaning my bathroom. Alas it’s in the past. Which is exactly what you should do with this movie pass it over for dead. It moved faster than a dead person should. All I’m gonna say is this movie better be setup for a amazing sequel. Grade D

A note from an editor!

Hi Matthew,

Thank you for the time and effort you put into this piece, especially on a Saturday morning. I can tell you definitely took good notes of everything that was going on during the event!

We still have some work to do before this piece is ready to print. Your piece has a lot of information, but it doesn’t sound like a news article. What was the point of his speech/presentation? Why was he addressing this audience? What is Vanguard? What does the company do – who does it serve? You spend a lot of time narrating (for example, how he was injured), but did not report on the purpose of the event. You can maybe mention his appearance/joking about it in a sentence or two, but do not take several paragraphs to do so. Also, I like how you mentioned where the name “Vanguard” comes from.

There are a lot of spelling errors in this piece – make sure you proof read each sentence carefully.

I know I am getting back to you a little later I hoped, and I’m sorry about that! But if you have time tonight, please go through my suggestions and try to rework your piece. You can send me what you have tonight/tomorrow morning. Please bring a copy of it to the meeting tomorrow and we will discuss it further from there.

Once again, thanks for your hard work and promptness! Remember this is a learning process, and we are all part of the Waltonian team!

Talk to you soon!
