Then She Found Me

Ok, I admit I write my reviews are from the heart. I can’t separate my feelings (most of the time) from my analytical abilities. Thus being said I am going to try to critically analyze and inform you of my emotions about this movie in the same review. First of all my emotions were of hatred and conceit the main characters seemed to loathe each other in every way, shape, and form even when they were in love with each other. So as far as my emotional review goes this movie gets an F. F because I feel completely fucked after watching in this morning. Now it’s time for my analytical review. The acting was excellent. The writing extraordinary. In order to make me feel the way I just described can only be done by a very skilled writer. The direction (Helen Hunt) was extraordinary and the pacing was well done as well. The running time of 100 minutes seemed only to move slowly because it was such a negative topic. I’m finished my movie and my review and it still insanely early. (not even 9am) I realize this review is very short (only 5 concise paragraphs) compared to my last review which was more than twice in length. I do however believe at times in brevity. That being said I’ll get down to brass tack an give you my over all summary of the movie and most importantly my letter grade. Emotionally as I said it gets an F. From a writers standpoint I give it and A. I am a democrat (I’m actually wearing a blue collar) So therefore I’m more emotional than analytical. (or so I’m told) The movie therefore gets a C+ because I can’t separate my feeling from my personality. Grade C+

A note from an editor!

Hi Matthew,

Thank you for the time and effort you put into this piece, especially on a Saturday morning. I can tell you definitely took good notes of everything that was going on during the event!

We still have some work to do before this piece is ready to print. Your piece has a lot of information, but it doesn’t sound like a news article. What was the point of his speech/presentation? Why was he addressing this audience? What is Vanguard? What does the company do – who does it serve? You spend a lot of time narrating (for example, how he was injured), but did not report on the purpose of the event. You can maybe mention his appearance/joking about it in a sentence or two, but do not take several paragraphs to do so. Also, I like how you mentioned where the name “Vanguard” comes from.

There are a lot of spelling errors in this piece – make sure you proof read each sentence carefully.

I know I am getting back to you a little later I hoped, and I’m sorry about that! But if you have time tonight, please go through my suggestions and try to rework your piece. You can send me what you have tonight/tomorrow morning. Please bring a copy of it to the meeting tomorrow and we will discuss it further from there.

Once again, thanks for your hard work and promptness! Remember this is a learning process, and we are all part of the Waltonian team!

Talk to you soon!
