Skyline

It is no doubt that in our youth obsessed plot deprived cinematic society that this movie is made. The screenplay centers around one young couple that travels to LA to live it up with two more hot couples and have their day in the sun living it up in the style of the sexy and snobbish. Suddenly their world (or city in this case) is invaded by an alien horde. These three young couples spend the entire 94-minute time length of this film running and screaming around in a 22-story hotel at the harbor of Los Angles. They are picked off of course one by one till the aforementioned couple at the heart of this film is left to fend for themselves. They are joined however briefly by the hotel manger that just happens to have keys to every door to this hotel. (Is that not convenient?) There is really nothing to cheer about or no one to root for in this overwhelmingly pointless film. Alien invasion movies are a dime a dozen and so are film that destroy LA. Most of the time they are one and the same. So why did this movie even make it into production when it has nothing new too offer and no unique plot point to base even the trailer on. I’d like to say this film could be a springboard to some of its underdressed young co-stars. The only board I saw however when watching this film was the wooden board I created in my head to beat myself with to dull the pain of watching this movie. To say this movie was awful would be an understatement. I don’t think I can put on my blogspot the appropriate word I want to describe this worthless film. Oh well, what more can you expect from a free Redbox DVD rental I hesitantly picked out within minutes of closing on the forth of July. Grade F

A note from an editor!

Hi Matthew,

Thank you for the time and effort you put into this piece, especially on a Saturday morning. I can tell you definitely took good notes of everything that was going on during the event!

We still have some work to do before this piece is ready to print. Your piece has a lot of information, but it doesn’t sound like a news article. What was the point of his speech/presentation? Why was he addressing this audience? What is Vanguard? What does the company do – who does it serve? You spend a lot of time narrating (for example, how he was injured), but did not report on the purpose of the event. You can maybe mention his appearance/joking about it in a sentence or two, but do not take several paragraphs to do so. Also, I like how you mentioned where the name “Vanguard” comes from.

There are a lot of spelling errors in this piece – make sure you proof read each sentence carefully.

I know I am getting back to you a little later I hoped, and I’m sorry about that! But if you have time tonight, please go through my suggestions and try to rework your piece. You can send me what you have tonight/tomorrow morning. Please bring a copy of it to the meeting tomorrow and we will discuss it further from there.

Once again, thanks for your hard work and promptness! Remember this is a learning process, and we are all part of the Waltonian team!

Talk to you soon!
