Legal Eagles

This is one roller coaster, thrill ride, adventure of a movie.  It is fun and funny and even has some drama in it as well. Don't go to the bathroom while watching this movie, fold your laundry while viewing this fantastic flick.  Don't even blink your eye nor sneeze. This movie is provocatively well paced from one scene to the next. (some scenes more than others)

The casting is top notched as well. Robert Redford, Debra Winger, Brian Dennehy and Terrance Stamp are all veteran performers in this 1986 film. Daryl Hannah is fairly young her at 26 but still is as memorizing and breathtaking as ever as in leading debut performance two years earlier.

She made a real Splash on the silver screen then and brings fire to the entire theater in this provocative role. Steven Hill is not bad either in his pre Law and Order days as the current district attorney. What a surprise a district attorney. Perhaps it was a role he was born to play.

The direction is not bad either, with Ghostbusters, Stripes, and Animal House  (producer only) under his belt as producer. Mr. Reitman directs again with hilarious results and excellent comedic timing. The score is astonishing and writing is amazing as well.

Jim Cash can bank on this movie to make him a millionaire over night. I loved this movie many moons ago when I watched it with my mother and enjoy it still today. This movie will make a fun date movie for you and that someone special and may even be the perfect movie. It may even be a good movie to watch in law school.

A note from an editor!

Hi Matthew,

Thank you for the time and effort you put into this piece, especially on a Saturday morning. I can tell you definitely took good notes of everything that was going on during the event!

We still have some work to do before this piece is ready to print. Your piece has a lot of information, but it doesn’t sound like a news article. What was the point of his speech/presentation? Why was he addressing this audience? What is Vanguard? What does the company do – who does it serve? You spend a lot of time narrating (for example, how he was injured), but did not report on the purpose of the event. You can maybe mention his appearance/joking about it in a sentence or two, but do not take several paragraphs to do so. Also, I like how you mentioned where the name “Vanguard” comes from.

There are a lot of spelling errors in this piece – make sure you proof read each sentence carefully.

I know I am getting back to you a little later I hoped, and I’m sorry about that! But if you have time tonight, please go through my suggestions and try to rework your piece. You can send me what you have tonight/tomorrow morning. Please bring a copy of it to the meeting tomorrow and we will discuss it further from there.

Once again, thanks for your hard work and promptness! Remember this is a learning process, and we are all part of the Waltonian team!

Talk to you soon!
