Blame It on Rio

Ok, here it is, my 45th review of the year. I would first like to admit that the only reason I watched this movie was to bring down my blogspot GPA. My sister says I give out too many A’s so I am purposely watching a bad movie to give it a negative review. The only problem is I don’t know what kind of review to write for it. The story is of a torrid love affair between a teenage girl and a middle-aged man. The story is one of betrayal, escapades, and deception. The story is just not that impressive. While I admit I did not expect the ending I wasn’t exactly floored by it either. This is a movie with no real story to tell. They say what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas well maybe the same should be said for Rio de Janerio. The cheesy music is just one sign that this movie is nothing special. Blame It on Rio is just a poor man’s excuse to watch a naughty movie. The only problem is the most guilt you feel after watching the film is that you just wasted one hour and fity minutes of your life on a movie. Hopefully you did not pay money for it like I did not and got it free on TV. (On Demand) The cast of this movie never reaaly seems to be enjoying themsleves, or for that matter enjoying the movie. They look uncomfortable and stiff not to mention altogether guilty for burdening you with such an adventure. The movie is not so bad as much as it is not very good. It is filled with tired clichés worn out plot lines and over used characters. The long and short of it is this movie is not one to bring home to mother. It is lame and lackadaisical. It is not worth seeing the first time much less a second. I would not tell my coworkers about it and hope to never think about it again. Grade C-

A note from an editor!

Hi Matthew,

Thank you for the time and effort you put into this piece, especially on a Saturday morning. I can tell you definitely took good notes of everything that was going on during the event!

We still have some work to do before this piece is ready to print. Your piece has a lot of information, but it doesn’t sound like a news article. What was the point of his speech/presentation? Why was he addressing this audience? What is Vanguard? What does the company do – who does it serve? You spend a lot of time narrating (for example, how he was injured), but did not report on the purpose of the event. You can maybe mention his appearance/joking about it in a sentence or two, but do not take several paragraphs to do so. Also, I like how you mentioned where the name “Vanguard” comes from.

There are a lot of spelling errors in this piece – make sure you proof read each sentence carefully.

I know I am getting back to you a little later I hoped, and I’m sorry about that! But if you have time tonight, please go through my suggestions and try to rework your piece. You can send me what you have tonight/tomorrow morning. Please bring a copy of it to the meeting tomorrow and we will discuss it further from there.

Once again, thanks for your hard work and promptness! Remember this is a learning process, and we are all part of the Waltonian team!

Talk to you soon!
