Easy A

It is said there are three forms of communication in high school. They are telephone, telegraph, and tell a woman. Ok so maybe one of those is out dated now but the third is certainly not. Rumors spread quickly in high school. That is part of the growing experience. It is also what this movie is all about. This movie is about how one measly rumor that can get out of hand and spread like wildfire. It is about popularity and how it can be shortly lived, bought, or decided on. This movie is ingeniously written. It is crisp and creative and a joy to intake at 4 O’ clock in the morning. This 92 -minute feature length film is short on time but long on truth. It rings true today and will ring true long into the future. This is coming from someone who has not set foot in a high school since 1992. I remember my high school days. They were hard. That is what this movie is all about. The casting in this movie is top notch. Amanda Bynes, Malcolm McDowell and Stanly Tucci are but three names in this fabulous cast. They all come together well to form the perfect characters and make a great film. The pacing is perfect and the storyline inventive. This movie is just plain fun. It is fun to watch, fun to intake and fun to analyze or review afterwards. This movie lives up to its title. It gets an easy A. The 'a' is for originality, crisp writing and great characters. It is a good flick to rent from Redbox or add to your Netflix queue. Don’t take my word for it. Go out and rent it today. Easy A

A note from an editor!

Hi Matthew,

Thank you for the time and effort you put into this piece, especially on a Saturday morning. I can tell you definitely took good notes of everything that was going on during the event!

We still have some work to do before this piece is ready to print. Your piece has a lot of information, but it doesn’t sound like a news article. What was the point of his speech/presentation? Why was he addressing this audience? What is Vanguard? What does the company do – who does it serve? You spend a lot of time narrating (for example, how he was injured), but did not report on the purpose of the event. You can maybe mention his appearance/joking about it in a sentence or two, but do not take several paragraphs to do so. Also, I like how you mentioned where the name “Vanguard” comes from.

There are a lot of spelling errors in this piece – make sure you proof read each sentence carefully.

I know I am getting back to you a little later I hoped, and I’m sorry about that! But if you have time tonight, please go through my suggestions and try to rework your piece. You can send me what you have tonight/tomorrow morning. Please bring a copy of it to the meeting tomorrow and we will discuss it further from there.

Once again, thanks for your hard work and promptness! Remember this is a learning process, and we are all part of the Waltonian team!

Talk to you soon!
